I. List of Offshore electrician duties:

1.     Troubleshoot and repair electric motor control circuitry.
2.     Troubleshoot and repair electric relay, paging and alarm systems.
3.     Troubleshoot and repair phased and DC electric motors.
4.     Troubleshoot and repair electrical power generation equipment.
5.     Troubleshoot and repair electrical switch-gear equipment.
6.     Install, troubleshoot and repair DC battery banks and battery chargers.
7.     Remove, install, repair and test low-voltage distribution panels.
8.     Troubleshoot and repair electrical explosion proof equipment.
9.     Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's).
10.  Test, troubleshoot and replace electric lighting systems.
11.  Test, troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems.
12.  Test, troubleshoot and repair AC variable frequency motor drives.
13.  Test, troubleshoot and repair Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems.
14.  Install, test and connect electrical conductors.
15.  Read electrical drawings of control circuitry.
16.  Diagnose and apply results using voltmeters & amp meters.
17.  Diagnose and apply results using hydrometers.
18.  Diagnose and apply results using meggers.
19.  Troubleshoot and repair electrical instrumentation.
20.  Troubleshot and repair fire and gas detection equipment.
21.  Troubleshoot and repair 4160 volt equipment.
22.  Interpret computer diagnostics of electrical motor control systems.

II. List of Offshore electrician qualifications

1.     Past experience and proficiency in applying lockout/tag-out procedures.
2.     Past experience and proficiency conducting Job Hazard Analysis and completing Permits to Work.
3.     Past experience working successfully in a work environment with formal safety policies and procedures.
4.     Proficient in the use of basic electrical tool such as voltmeter, amp meters and meggers.
5.     Willingness to support Shell Exploration and Production Company's drug-free work environment.
6.     Willingness to work offshore on an oil & gas production platform on the Gulf of Mexico.
7.     Willingness to work a 14 day on and 14 day off shift schedule. (This means that you will be required to be away from home for 14 days straight working in the Gulf of Mexico, and then you will have 14 days off).
8.     Willingness to work 12 hours a day while working offshore.
9.     Willingness to take and pass a basic swimming test.
10.  Willingness to work in small, confined places.
11.  Willingness to work on high platforms and to walk up and down steps.
12.  Willingness to walk on high elevation grating.
13.  Willingness to ride in a helicopter over Gulf of Mexico waters for extended periods.
14.  Willingness to ride in a boat in Gulf of Mexico waters for extended periods.
