I. List of Offshore chief mechanic duties:
1.     Install and align fluid movement pumps.
2.     Troubleshoot and repair single stage pumps.
3.     Troubleshoot and repair multi-stage pumps.
4.     Troubleshoot and repair centrifugal pumps.
5.     Troubleshoot and repair reciprocating gas compressors.
6.     Troubleshoot and repair rotary gas compressors.
7.     Troubleshoot and repair natural gas turbines.
8.     Troubleshoot and repair air cooler fans.
9.     Troubleshoot and repair air-intake blowers.
10.  Troubleshoot and replace mechanical seals on pumps.
11.  Troubleshoot and replace bearings.
12.  Troubleshoot and replace compression and fuel valves in reciprocating compressors.
13.  Troubleshoot and replace fan variable pitch assemblies.
14.  Remove and clean compressor rotors.
15.  Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems.
16.  Check and adjust speed control governors on turbines and compressors.
17.  Replace and install gear boxes.
18.  Read and interpret mechanical drawings.
19.  Diagnose and apply results using micrometer.
20.  Diagnose and apply results using alignment tools for power-driven connections (i.e., reverse dial indicator).

II. List of Offshore chief mechanic qualifications
1.     Past experience and proficiency in applying lockout/tag-out procedures.
2.     Past experience and proficiency conducting Job Hazard Analysis and completing Permits to Work.
3.     Past experience working successfully in a work environment with formal safety policies and procedures.
4.     Willingness to support Shell Exploration and Production Company's drug-free work environment.
5.     Willingness to work offshore on an oil & gas production platform on the Gulf of Mexico.
6.     Willingness to work a 14 day on and 14 day off shift schedule. (This means that you will be required to be away from home for 14 days straight working in the Gulf of Mexico, and then you will have 14 days off).
7.     Willingness to work 12 hours a day while working offshore.
8.     Willingness to take and pass a basic swimming test.
9.     Willingness to work in small, confined places.
10.  Willingness to work on high platforms and to walk up and down steps.
11.  Willingness to walk on high elevation grating.
12.  Willingness to ride in a helicopter over Gulf of Mexico waters for extended periods.
13.  Willingness to ride in a boat in Gulf of Mexico waters for extended periods.
