I. List of Barge engineer duties:

  1. The position is a broad-based engineering position with a concentration in beach nourishment, coastal protections and structures, inlet and navigation studies involving feasibility analyses, engineering designs, limited computer modeling, report preparation, permitting and construction engineering services, at a minimum.
  2. Willingness to regularly travel and work at beachfront locations with minimal supervision for short periods of time (two weeks) to perform construction observations. Required on-site lodging may include a quarters barge in remote locations.
  3. Perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues.
  4. Monitor applicable regulatory requirements and stays abreast of regulatory trends.
  5. Solve problems quickly.
  6. Work activities include collection and interpretation of engineering data, calculation of fill/cut volumes, deveopment of permit applications, coastal engineering design, graphics development and report preparation.
  7. Ensures conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.

II. List of Barge engineer qualifications

  1. Master's degree in coastal engineering or similar field prefered. Bachelor's degree with applicable work experience may substitute.
  2. Have working knowledge of coastal processes, coastal structure design, construction methodology, and coastal geology.
  3. Experience using Matlab and coastal modeling software a plus.
  4. Demonstrated ability to fluently communicate in spoken and written English.
  5. Must possess a clean driving record.
  6. Have an enthusiasm for working in a consulting firm environment on coastal projects.
  7. Be able to legally work in the United States without support for an indefinite period of time.
  8. Have the ability to handle multiple assignments efficiently and effectively and prepare designs and reports with limited supervision.
  9. Be able to work independently and with our multidisciplinary team of professionals and staff.
  10. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and critical environment
  11. Has developed depth and breadth of expertise in own discipline
  12. Anticipates customer needs and identifies solutions
  13. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions
  14. Manages own time to meet objectives; forecasts and plans resource requirements
