Assistant driller functions

I. List of Assistant driller duties:
  1. Ability to lift drill steel and materials weighing up to 80 lbs.
  2. Label sample containers as directed
  3. Assist driller in maintenance and repairs to drill rig
  4. Expediting field supplies
  5. Performs duties at multiple job sites
  6. Performs yard duties at direction of driller
  7. Assist in measuring test boring locations
  8. Load and unload trucks
  9. Smoothly and quickly connect and disconnect the lower parts of the drill pipe when it is being lowered into and raised from the hole
  10. Catch samples of drilled cuttings to be analyzed
  11. Assist in installing monitoring well casing and screens 
  12. Clean and maintain equipment
  13. Help move drilling rigs and equipment from site to site, set up in the new site
  14. Help obtain drilling core samples
  15. Dig and clean mud pits and drains
  16. Assist with well development and pumping tests
  17. Operate equipment such as pumps for air, water and mud, and equipment and tools used to correct problems in drilled holes
  18. Carry out minor maintenance and repairs, including lubrication and cleaning
  19. Perform other duties as assigned
II. List of Assistant driller qualifications

  1. One year experience preferred
  2. Mechanical skills preferred
  3. Class A or Class B CDL license a plus
  4. Must pass company background checks including drug screen
  5. Must have an excellent driving record within company standards
  6. Ability to Read and Write.
  7. Ability to complete OSHA 40 hour class.
  8. Ability to obtain Certificate with 8-Hour Annual Refresher Course Certificate
