I. List of Assistant
crane operator duties:
- Crane Operator - responsible for crane operations on the rig. Supervisor to assistant and the Roustabouts.
- Assistant Crane Operator - An experienced Roustabout, also qualified to operate the cranes. Will often be next in line for promotion to Crane Operator.
- Maintenance Forman - oversees Maintenance Roustabouts.
- Maintenance Roustabout - main duties include general upkeep and cleansing of deck area of rig. Also painting.
- Roustabout - main duties include guiding the crane as loads are moved about the deck, supplying equipment to the rig floor, maintain pipe deck and main deck cleanliness. Assist Roughnecks on the drill floor when required.
- Replace valve seats and repairs valves operators. May test equipment for leaks using a vacuum gauge to detect pressure drops.
- Inspect, troubleshoot and train conveyor belts.
- Lubricates moving parts or replaces worn parts to prevent breakdown or malfunctioning
- Ability to use precision instruments, dial indicator, micrometer, etc.
- Misc - Assist crane operator with hand signals and two-way radios. Utilized plant wide for emergency work orders. Complete housekeeping as needed throughout shift. Other job-related duties as assigned.
- Be vigilant of issues and conditions that can affect their fellow workers.
- Report any issues that can impact the environment or the safety of the employees.
II. List of Assistant
crane operator qualifications
- High School diploma or GED certificate and 3 years industrial maintenance experience required.
- First-class or Journeyman level experience with rigging, mechanical equipment maintenance, equipment alignment, power transmission maintenance, metal fabrication, pipe fabrication and equipment troubleshooting.
- Physical work environment includes frequently working outdoors and frequent exposure to varying temperatures from below 32 degrees to above 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Must be able to safely perform the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others.
- Able to lift approximately 0-10 lbs. unassisted and occasionally.
- Able to lift approximately 0-10 lbs. unassisted and regularly.
- Able to lift approximately 0-25 lbs. unassisted and regularly.
- Able to lift 25-50 lbs. unassisted and regularly.
- Able to lift 50+ lbs. unassisted and regularly.
- Able to climb stairs and work at various heights.
- Able to distinguish varying or specific colors, patterns or materials.
- Able to hear, with or without correction.
- Able to read, write and understand basic English.
- Able to see, with or without correction.
- Able to travel unassisted.
- Able to use fine hand motor skills.
- Able to wear a respirator.
- Able to work in tight or closed-in spaces.
- Able to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
- Physically able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for 300 pounds or less.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
