Assistant crane operator competencies

I. Job qualifications

  1. High School diploma or GED certificate and 3 years industrial maintenance experience required.
  2. First-class or Journeyman level experience with rigging, mechanical equipment maintenance, equipment alignment, power transmission maintenance, metal fabrication, pipe fabrication and equipment troubleshooting.   
  3. Physical work environment includes frequently working outdoors and frequent exposure to varying temperatures from below 32 degrees to above 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. Must be able to safely perform the job without posing a direct threat to the safety of his or her own self, or the safety of others.
  5. Able to lift approximately 0-10 lbs. unassisted and occasionally.
  6. Able to lift approximately 0-10 lbs. unassisted and regularly.
  7. Able to lift approximately 0-25 lbs. unassisted and regularly.
  8. Able to lift 25-50 lbs. unassisted and regularly.
  9. Able to lift 50+ lbs. unassisted and regularly.
  10. Able to climb stairs and work at various heights.
  11. Able to distinguish varying or specific colors, patterns or materials.
  12. Able to hear, with or without correction.
  13. Able to read, write and understand basic English.
  14. Able to see, with or without correction.
  15. Able to travel unassisted.
  16. Able to use fine hand motor skills.
  17. Able to wear a respirator.
  18. Able to work in tight or closed-in spaces.
  19. Able to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  20. Physically able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for 300 pounds or less.
  21. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
